Blending Images
This tutorial will teach you how to blend images together....the easy way.
First, you'll need two images you want to blend together. I'm going to use these
two of Kelly Clarkson:
here
&
here. Feel free to use these for practice during this tutorial. (If you'd like to use your own pictures for this tutorial, just be sure you pick relatively simple ones. Pictures with detailed backgrounds are often harder to blend well, so it's a good idea to pick pictures with simple
and similar looking backgrounds.)
Open up a photoshop document big enough to fit both pictures. Place them in this
document by copying and pasting them. Next, position them in the way you want them to blend. You can do this by selecting the layer in your layer selector and using the "Move" tool. (if your layer selector isn't open, just select: Window > Layers)

Be sure they overlap! I want the second picture to blend with the left half of the first picture, so I'll overlap my pictures like this:

Now, go to the second picture you placed on top of the first, and select it in your
layer selector, like this:

Next, we're going to take away some of the top picture to blend it with the bottom one. Just select your erasing tool by pressing "E" on your keyboard. Now, to get a nice smooth blend, we'll need an airbrush. Luckily, Photoshop comes with a set! From your brush selector, select the "Basic Brushes."

Just choose a size you think is good (I'm using the 48px one) and erase away the part of the top picture that's overlapping with the bottom one. Be careful an pay attention to detail while you're doing this. Remember, you want a smooth blend.

Once you think you're done...you're done! Congrats on making a simple blend:
