Ozzfest 2007
By: Katy
Artist: Main Stage: Lordi, Static X, Lamb of God, Ozzy Osbourne.
Concert Name/Year: Ozzfest 2007
Pros:
Static X: I have never listened to them before, but their music was great and from what I can tell, they are a great band to listen to live. They made the crowd have fun during the show, instead of just singing and then getting off stage.
Lamb Of God: They also brought the crowd in for participation. Even if you didn't know any of the songs you could sing along and have a good time rocking out.
Ozzy Osbourne: Ozzy did an amazing job considering after the show he was sent to the Emergency Room to get a blood clot removed. The whole crowd loved him, simply because most of them were there for him. He made the crowd get wild, scream, clap, bang on their seats, just to keep him playing. Zack Wylde played a long solo, including the National Anthem, that was simply amazing.
Non-Musical likes: There were many booths and things to buy such as T-shirts, hats, lighters, and many other things for people over the age of 18. Frankly, you couldn't get too bored
Cons:
Lordi: This was the only part of the actual performance that I disliked. I just personally did not think they played good music, and they were too flashy with their presentation. With fire and bangs and booms, it seemed like they were trying to hard. Most of the crowd seemed to agree because by the end of their performance, they were screaming 'you suck'. I feel slightly bad for the band, because nobody should I have to deal with that, but I can't say I disagree.
Non-Musical dislikes: The gates opened at Noon, but none of the main stage bands were going to be on stage until six. Since this was the fact, they didn't open the seating area until four. That was four hours in the heat that we had to deal with. Of course, there were the side stage bands, except the only way you could see them was be in the pit facing directly into the sun.
Experiences:
I didn't meet any of the bands, however it was fun while we were waiting to get to our seats to see the people around us and to talk to some of the other fans. It was indeed and interesting crowd.
Rating:
I would rate it a 9. It was a free concert, so they couldn't have had spectacular bands, but what they did have was really good.
Final Thoughts: Ozzfest is when the 'freaks' come out. People don't care what you look like, and you can just let your true Gothic side come out. Hair die, black clothes, band shirts. It was truly fun to see the people that we saw. I suggest anybody that enjoys hard rock to go to this tour. I mean, come on, it is free.
