If you haven't heard of The Academy Is… by now, you're seriously missing out. They're exceptional at what they do. So exceptional in fact that when Pete Wentz heard the band's first EP, The Academy, he convinced his record label Fueled By Ramen to come out to Illinois and see them. Long story short, they loved them immediately, signed them on the spot, and TAI is now a gigantic hit. They're buds with fellow Chicago natives Fall Out Boy, (Pete Wentz is in their Checkmarks music video) as well as Panic! At the Disco and Gym Class Heroes (TAI, P!@TD, and GCH are all in Fall Out Boy's A Little Less Sixteen Candles… video) The bands new album Santi is set to be released April 3rd (but will most likely have been leaked by mid march so check the spin6 forum boards) but you don't have to wait that long to listen to them. Their first CD Almost Here as well as their EP's The Academy and From The Carpet are already available; and don't forget to go out and see them this year at the Honda Civic Tour with Fall Out Boy, +44, Cobra Starship, and Paul Wall.

Recommendations:
"Attention" - I love this song, the tempo is perfect, lead singer William Beckett's voice is perfect (but then again, what isn't perfect about William Beckett?!), and everyone should be able to relate to the lyrics, after all, who hasn't wanted attention at some point?

"Slow Down" - I adore the music video and the song for this. It's about how shallow Hollywood is and how most people will do anything for a shot at fame. The lyrics are similar to something Cute Is What We Aim For would write; it's about how fake Hollywood is.

"Classifieds" - This is my ringtone, just thought you should know that; anyways, I adore this song. The lyrics are extremely catchy, you'll get them stuck in your head and then you'll hate me for it, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't download this song. Actually, don't download the song, download the whole album. Almost Here, is definitely worth the money.
