Gym Class Heroes
By: Malcom.
Gym Class Heroes is a four-member hip-hop band from Geneva, New York. The band is best known for their songs "Cupid's Chokehold" from The Papercut Chronicles and "The Queen and I" from As Cruel as School Children. Instead of the conventional looped samples and pre-recorded beats, Gym Class Heroes use live instruments, similar to artists such as Stetsasonic, The Roots, and Crown City Rockers.
Don't sleep on the latest release by Gym School Heroe's titled As Cruel As School Children. The group has a real fresh sound. The first single from the release "New Friend Request" is something that everyone who is a part of the whole Myspace phenomenon will be able to relate to. "Clothes Off" is an uptempo song that puts a whole new spin on the classic Jermaine Stewart song "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off."
From start to finish it's a solid album and it's the kind of album you can imagine listening to at a summer barbecue or at a day at the beach. Stand out tracks on the album include the first single "Friend Request", "Shoot Down The Stars", "Cupid's Chokehold ", and "7 Weeks."
Recommendations:
"Cupid's Chokehold" - With the creative forces of Fall Out Boy's, Patrick Stump, GCH and Patrick Stump make a very almost annoyingly cathcy song. So annoying that not listening to this song is almost illegal.
"Clothes Off!" - This song is another duo, with Patrick Stump. Also another catchy song, one of my favorites from the album. With a chorus that states, "We Have To Take Out Clothes Off."
"Faces In The Hall" - I like this song because of the serious and arbitary tone throughout. This song is from their previous album "The Papercut Chronicles", and is my favorite from that album.
