Fall Out Boy

Love them or hate them, there's no denying that Fall Out Boy has made it big. Not bad for 4 boys out of Wilmette, Illinois; a small town north of Chicago which until Fall Out Boy, was only known for its white marble taj-mahal-wannabe house of worship; a place that this reporter is all too familiar with (those summery family picnics still haunt me, trust me). However, thanks to Fall Out Boy, I no longer cringe at the thought of Wilmette. Instead, now I think of it more as the birthplace of the new generation of alternative rock. After 5 CDs and 2 EPS, the band has reached iconic status with their 6th and most recent album, Infinity on High, which has already made it to platinum and have also managed to bring alternative rock or as some prefer to call it "emo" back to mainstream America. Which wasn't too hard considering they're now one of the most influential musical artists out there. Without Fall Out Boy, there would probably be no Panic! At The Disco, The Academy Is…, or Gym Class Heroes and the words fueled by ramen would still make people think of instant soup. Some people may feel that Fall Out Boy has become far too overrated, but you can't hold that against them; it's not their fault that they're just that good.

Recommendations:
"Homesick At Spacecamp" - My favorite Fall Out Boy song of all time; to me, it represents all that comes with being a teenager. Relationships and friends; what else? Oh and the beginning when it starts off with "landing on a runway in Chicago…" incase you haven't figured it out. I'm a Chicago native and this song and the city stay near and dear to my heart.

"Grand Theft Autumn" - You can't think Fall Out Boy without thinking Grand Theft Autumn. It's just not possible. It was their first hit and if you ask me, one of their best hits. If you're sitting there right now thinking huh? Then I suggest you go listen to this song right away; or risk being laughed at by real Fall Out Boy fans.

"The World's Not Waiting (For Five Tired Boys In A Broken Down Van)" - You've probably noticed that I only picked vintage Fall Out Boy songs. After all, I have to agree with most people and simply say that "sugar, we're going down," "this ain't a scene…" etcetera etcetera are far too overplayed. What makes me love this song? Simple, "This might just be a waste of time but there's no one I'd rather waste my time with than all of my best friends." My best friends.
