30 Seconds to Mars

In 1998 Jared Leto and his brother, Shannon Leto, created what started off as a small family project, known as 30 Seconds to Mars. Things began to speed up quickly for the Leto family, however, and Matt Wachter later joined the band as a bassist and keyboard player. After a hectic turn of events, when the band lost two of their guitarists, Kevin Drake and Solon Bixler, the three auditioned Tomo Milicevic for their final member as guitarist. In 2002, 30 Seconds to Mars released their first self-titled album which got many mixed reviews and sold just over 100,000 records. The band's second album, A Beautiful Lie, was released on August 30, 2005. The bands name comes from a thesis that they found online written by a former Harvard professor. One of the subsections of this thesis was titled 'thirty seconds to mars' where he goes on to talk about the expediential growth of technology that relates to humans and says that we are quite literally thirty seconds to mars. On March 1, 2007, bassist Matt Wachter announced his departure from the band live on stage during the band's El Paso, Texas "Taste of Chaos" set. This was confirmed the following day with a statement on the band's website. He has since been replaced by Tim Kelleher (he isn't an actor, although there is one with the same name), who has been seen playing at the band's concerts. It is unknown if this is a temporary or permanent change. Wachter, on the other hand, has since joined Angels and Airwaves. If you haven't seen 30 Seconds to Mars live, I would recommend doing so; you won't be able to stand still. Afterward the band does their best to meet every fan that hangs around after the show.

Recommendations:
"Capricorn (A Brand New Name)" – This song is my favorite off of the first record. I like this song because it's fast paced and has a techno sound which makes it amazing in my opinion. The band also has an acoustic version of this song which is amazing in every way.

"R-Evolve" – This is my absolute favorite 30 Seconds to Mars song. It's a little slower than most of their other songs but the lyrics and music are incredible.

"Attack" - This is another amazing song. It's hard for me to write about 30 Second to Mars songs because all of their songs are incredible in my opinion. You'd need to listen to all their songs in order to understand.
