My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade

By: Andrew Butcher

"Now Come One, Come All to This Tragic Affair..." These are the words you are greeted to when first opening that new CD, or just Buying it off of iTunes. The Black Parade is My Chemical Romance's third Record, and to this day, produced over 1.3 Million in sales. It was released to the public on October 24, 2006. This date was known for the hundreds of fans buying and making t-shirts, helping to promote and spread, The Black Parade. I myself, was one of those fans, wearing a black shirt, stating, "We Are The Black Parade."

Compared to their last album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, which tells of a story about two lovers, whoare separated by death, to soon be reunited when the male kills himself, The Black Parade centers around a patient to deals with his death, and how he carries on. "When we started working on the record, all of these theatrical songs that were about life and death started to come out," says frontman Gerard Way. "That's when we decided we wanted to throw all caution to the wind and aspire to make a huge record." As you listen to the CD, a story unfolds. What you are left with is a story about mortality, mainly the Band's mortality.

"Welcome to the Black Parade" is one of the most familiar songs off this album, and my personal favorite. It is the story of a patient, recapping the story his father told him, when he is encountered by a marching parade, ready to lead him onto his after-life.

This CD had a great impact on me, and others that I know. I recommend this CD to anyone who have gone through physical and mental changes through their life, just like My Chemical Romance.
