Good Charlotte - Good Morning Revival

By: S6 Journalist - Sebastian.

It's a good morning for Good Charlotte with the release of their fourth full-length studio release, Good Morning Revival. And 'revival' is a good word to describe it. Although they continue to write meaningful and well written lyrics, they've turned to a new sound for this record. Billy Martin, one of GC's guitarists, colaberated with more keyboarding then before, giving some of the songs a more danceable quality rather then being heavy on guitars.

The album's first single is "The River" featuring M. Shadows and Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, but you can't judge the album based on just this song. Like their other records, each song on the album is different and are hard to compare. The album intro and title-track is, as usual, an instrumental with little vocals. It's a bit vague and leaves you wanting to hear more. Then the songs following are upbeat and catchy, and later start fading into the slower, and more powerful tracks. Overall, this is a great album and definitely one you should give a listen.

Recommendations:
"Misery" - A song about fake and shallow people, and the misery you feel inside. Though it is a rather upbeat song, the lyrics are strong. The message in this song is to keep your sadness alive and not let it get the best of you.

"Dance Floor Anthem" - A story about one person putting all they have into the relationship while the other doesn't care at all. Though it sounds sad, it's a great song and Joel, GC's lead singer, himself said it was one of his favorite track on the album along with "March On."

"Something Else" - We all want something we can have. That is (word for word) what Good Charlotte is saying in this song. In this song, Joel sings about a girl who has always lived the high life and himself being someone who lived anything but. And if you really think about it, what he's really saying in the chorus is that the average person dreams of the glamorous life of the rich and famous while they rish and famous sometimes wish they could have the normal life of the average. Everyone wants something else.
