Circa Survive - On Letting Go

By: Ethan.

"On Letting Go" was released on 5/29/07. This is the second full length album from Circa Survive, the first being Juturna. Aside from those two albums they did release an EP called "The Inuit Sessions" which has 4 tracks. Circa Survive was formed in 2005. Lead singer Anthony Green, had just left Saosin because he felt the band was lacking something. He met fellow bandmembers Steve Clifford, Brendon Ekstrom, Colin Frangicetto, and Nick Beard shortly after leaving and there was an instant connection. The band Circa Survive was born.

The album has definately changed in regards of tempo and feel from the first album. "Juturna" is more upbeat while "On Letting Go" is more mellow with more intense parts. (Excluding the song "Mandala"). You can definately see the influences from bands like Dredg, and Saosin. The band also just released a music video which premiered on Fuse July 21st for the song "The Difference Between Medicine and Poison is in the Dose".

Recommendations:
"On Letting Go" - This is my favorite song by Circa Survive, it is a MUST if you only decide to buy a few songs from the album.

"Mandala" - This is more upbeat from the rest of the CD. It is probably also one of the catchiest tunes.

"The Difference Between Medicine and Poison is in the Dose" - This is probably my second favorite song on the CD. The music video is great, and the vocals are amazingly done.
